According to new researches, Scientists have discovered a fish living in forest swamps on the Indonesian island of Sumatra that is hold the record for worlds smallest fish. Paedocypris progenetica is the scientific name for these tiny creatures and they are believed to be the smallest known species of fish and vertebrate in the world. The tiny fish Paedocypris Progenetica was measured at just 7.9 mm in length and average weight is from 4 to 5 mg.

Flying is a misnomer. They're more like leaping fish, or gliding fish, to be honest. When they feel threatened, they swim really fast and launch themselves out of the water. Their massive fins enable them to stay there long enough to seriously confuse a predator. And no, they are not 'the missing link', although that's a nice idea. Wings as a method of leaving the ground have evolved several times in nature.
