Brimham Rocks are balancing rock formations on Brimham Moor in North Yorkshire, England. The rocks stand at a height of nearly 30 metres in an area owned by the National Trust which is part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. [Source]

Petra is a historical and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma’an that is famous for its rock cut architecture and water conduits system. Established sometime around the 6th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataeans, it is a symbol of Jordan as well as its most visited tourist attraction. It lies on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. The historical five-storey palace was built by Yemen’s ruler Imam Mansour Ali Bin Mehdi Abbas in 1786 AD.In the 1930s, the late Yemeni monarch Imam Yahya Hameed Al-Din added the upper story and annexes and used it as his summer residence. [Source]

The Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota has been under construction in South Dakota for more than 60 years, and its completion date is still unclear. Despite that, the monument-in-progress is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re in the area visiting Mount Rushmore, less than 20 miles away. Begun in 1948 as a tribute to the Native American warrior Crazy Horse, the statue’s construction has hit several roadblocks through the years, but eventual plans call for the monument to be 641 feet wide and 563 feet high, with Crazy Horse’s head projected at 87 feet high. Garden of the Gods is a public park located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1971. One of the most popular features in the park is a large balancing rock, known locally as Balanced Rock. Dinosaur species Theiophytalia kerri was found in the park in 1878, and studies of the skull in 2006 reveal it to be a new species. A honey ant never before recorded was also discovered in 1879 and named for the park. [Wiki]

Window Rock is the seat of government and capital of the Navajo Nation, the largest territory of a sovereign Native American nation in North America. Window Rock's population was 2,712 at the 2010 census. Window Rock contains the Navajo Nation Council, the Navajo Nation Zoological and Botanical Park, as well as the Navajo Nation World War II Memorial. [Wiki]

Nottingham Castle is a castle in Nottingham, England. There is some uncertainty whether a castle existed on the site before the Norman Conquest. If there was it would have been smaller and far less elaborate in design than the one that stood there afterwards, keeping in line with Anglo-Saxon architectural tradition. It is located in a commanding position on a natural promontory known as "Castle Rock", with cliffs 130 feet (40 m) high to the south and west. [Wiki]

Wernigerode Castle is a castle located in the Harz mountains above the town of Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The castle is open to the public and one of the most frequently visited in Saxony-Anhalt. The present-day building, finished in the late 19th century, is similar in style to Neuschwanstein Castle, though its foundations are much older. [Wiki]

The Longmen Grottoes or Longmen Caves are one of the finest examples of Chinese Buddhist art. There are as many as 100,000 statues within the 1,400 caves, ranging from an 1 inch (25 mm) to 57 feet (17 m) in height. The area also contains nearly 2,500 stelae and inscriptions, whence the name “Forest of Ancient Stelae", as well as over sixty Buddhist pagodas. The images, many once painted, were carved into caves excavated from the limestone cliffs of the Xiangshan and Longmenshan mountains, running east and west. [Wiki]

Located in northeastern Fujian Province, Taimu Mountain stands on the Coast of the East Sea with only one face out of four facing inland. It enjoys equal fame to Yandang Mountain in the north and Mount Wuyi in the west. During the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties, the Taimu Mountain temple complexes flourished. There were in total 36 temples among which Guoxing, Lingfeng, Ruiyun and Bajiao Temples were the largest in scale. [Source]

This is a massive cliff 604 metres (1982 feet) above Lysefjorden, opposite the Kjerag plateau, in Forsand, Ryfylke, Norway. The top of the cliff is approximately 25 by 25 metres (82 by 82 feet), almost flat. The cliff overlooks the densely and colorful green valleys of the Ryfylke region. The mountains surrounding the cliff reach heights of up to 843 meters. Some of the hilltops have plains which are interspersed with lakes. [Wiki]
